I just saw it last night, but it is my favorite. The whole movie itself is gorgeous -- the clothes, the buildings, the music, the poetry of the lyrics, the choreography, the characters, the world they live in. I could watch it again and again just for its sheer beauty. And then, of course, the story itself is beautiful.

It also has Shahrukh Khan -- the king of Bollywood, with good reason -- and Aishwarya Rai, considered by many the most beautiful woman in the world. My favorite actor and actress. (Madhuri Dixit also gives an amazing performance.)

I finally found Devdas subtitled in a language I could understand. I watched it. It was amazingly beautiful and heartbreaking and I think I'm in love.

I'm not looking forward to returning to school tomorrow. I know I'm going to have piles upon piles of work to make up, and I don't even remember what I was supposed to have before I got sick. All I remember is the fever chart for english was due while I was gone. I don't even know if I can find my sheet; it's not online. I'll deal with it all tomorrow. No sense in worrying about things just yet.

Natacha Atlas - Light of Life


This is my favorite song of all time. Whenever I'm upset, or frightened, or anything, really, I set it on repeat and it calms me down. It keeps me centered. And it's gorgeous.

I don't know why I'm up this late when I have to get up early tomorrow or why I'm posting right now.

I was definitely not planning on going anywhere this weekend so that I could be sure not to make myself sick again. I ended up at my grandparents' tonight. But ... it's even less stressful here than in my own home. Their house is like my own personal retreat. Not to mention my grandma has cures for any ailment. :)

We had hot chocolate in the sunroom tonight. We sat sipping melted marshmallows and talking. They told me that yesterday they talked to an old friend from their days in Lebanon for the first time since '77. He's an Egyption who used to be in charge of the association of theological schools in the Middle East. They told me about the time he came to stay with them when they were living in Baalbeck. He was sick. The Egyptian police had tried to murder him by putting poison in his tea.

They need to write a book.

It's strange; I haven't been hungry for the past few days. The first time I really got hungry was this evening. I've been eating, of course. But every time I eat I feel nauseous afterwards, or just like it isn't sitting right. I'm thinking it's left over symptoms from being sick -- except my sickness had nothing to do with my stomach.
